Sowing Hope School is a growing community-based primary school in Birere, Uganda. Founded on the belief that every child deserves a chance at education, the school began as a small Saturday initiative in 2014 and has evolved into a structured, developing day school. Our mission is to provide accessible, quality education to children in underserved communities—equipping them not just academically, but with the life skills necessary for a meaningful, independent future.

From 2014 - 2018, what began with just 20 children learning under trees every Saturday has grown into a foundational educational movement. Driven by local needs and generous donors, a vision for a permanent day school began to take root. Bricks were handmade. Meals were served. Hope was sown.
In February 2019, Sowing Hope School officially launched with two kindergarten classes and one primary class. A committed team of educators and staff formed the foundation of the school’s nurturing environment.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of our head teacher brought unprecedented challenges. Despite school closures, staff were supported, and families received food aid. Plans for long-term infrastructure and teacher housing continued, demonstrating our resilience and commitment.
Enrollment doubled to over 130 children. A dining hall, kitchen, and new staff were added. We also welcomed a new head teacher, Stephan Acidri, who has since built a vibrant and dedicated teaching team. The school added more classrooms, administrative offices, and a water well.
We now serve children through Grade 4, with more classes being added annually. A parent-teacher council was formed, and we introduced an Advisory Board to guide long-term development. Local families are now active participants in building and sustaining the school.

Vision & Purpose
At Sowing Hope School, we envision a school where children not only learn academic content but also build practical life skills. Our goal is to prepare students to thrive—whether or not they continue to secondary school. We are committed to becoming a licensed, state-recognized primary school with high-quality education, a secure learning environment, and a strong connection to the community.
The Road Ahead
Between now and 2027, we plan to add one grade level each year—reaching full Ugandan primary school status. Permanent structures, licensing compliance, teacher retirement support, and self-sufficient operations are priorities. But our greatest hope? That each child who walks through our gates leaves with confidence, dignity, and a brighter future.
Olutindo - We are building a primary school for children who would otherwise have no opportunity to attend school.
